Letters of Recommendations

June 30, 2016: Excerpt from Letter of Recommendation from Ruth Payne, Visual Arts Coordinator/Curator Ferry Building Gallery, West Vancouver:

"I am honoured to write this letter of recommendation for Colette Chilcott. Having worked with Colette's art in this gallery in her juried exhibition "Variations on Landscape", I admire her level of painting expertise and talent, as well as her commitment and dedication to her art. In Colette's exhibition here the work sold very well and received a tremendously enthusiastic and appreciative response from our gallery patrons and the visiting public. Over 2,500 people visited the exhibition in its three-week run.

“There is a grandeur of landscape and energy in Colette's painting while at the same time emanating stillness. Viewers feel a reverence and a spiritual connection to the paintings of mountains and ocean. Colette's palette speaks to both the mood and the mystery of the life force of nature."

August 11, 2016: Excerpt from Letter of Recommendation from Gordon Smith, Contemporary Canadian Artist, Order of Canada (1996):

"I am honoured to write this letter of recommendation for Colette Chilcott. I have been [an] artist teacher since 1944 when [I] returned from Italy. I was helped by artist friends for many years and since being a teacher at Emily Carr and U.B.C I have helped and saw the work of many young Artists. Colette Chilcott is a young Artist who has her own image (as Ed Hughes and others). She is yet to be discovered and recognize[d]. I think she has a great future as an important Canadian paint[er]."
